Shrimp Lafayette

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces olive oil
  • 1 lb shrimp, 10-15 count
  • 1 ounce cajun blackening seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon shallot, diced small
  • 2 ounces wine
  • 4 ounces dry sherry
  • 2 ounces tabasco sauce
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon creole mustard
  • 6 ounces heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Recipe

  • 1 heat a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
  • 2 add olive oil.
  • 3 toss shrimp into skillet and add blackening season, garlic and shallots.
  • 4 cook for approximately 30 seconds.
  • 5 deglaze pan with wine and sherry, remove shrimp and set aside.
  • 6 add hot sauce, worcestershire sauce and mustard.
  • 7 reduce to paste-like consistency.
  • 8 add heavy cream and reduce to sauce consistency.
  • 9 add shrimp back to sauce.
  • 10 cut heat and add in butter.
  • 11 stir butter until well incorporated.
  • 12 serve or hot rice or pasta with crispy french bread and a salad if you want.

Nasi Goreng Istimewa (special Fried Rice)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 cups cooled cooked rice
  • 1 crushed garlic clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon shrimp paste
  • 1 tablespoon soya sauce
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • salt, to taste

Recipe

  • 1 slice your onion lengthwise.
  • 2 heat the oil and fry the onion, garlic, chili and shrimp paste until the onion is soft.
  • 3 add the rice and salt to taste. mixing thoroughly while constantly stirring until every grain of rice is coated; then add the soya sauce and mix again until the colour is even throughout.
  • 4 the rice should take on a nice orange-red tint from the chili powder.
  • 5 cooked meat or prawns can be added with the soya sauce. onion crisps (goreng bawang) is used as a garnish.
  • 6 to make it 'istimewa' or special, a lightly fried egg, some cucumber slices and kerupuk (prawn or shrimp crackers) are served on top of the rice.

Shrimp In Tomato Cream Curry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb linguine
  • 10 ounces shrimp, peeled and de-veined
  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 dried hot red chili pepper, crushed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 large red bell pepper, seeded an diced
  • salt

Recipe

  • 1 cook spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente (cooked just right).
  • 2 meanwhile, medium heat olive oil in a heavy skillet or cast iron frying pan.
  • 3 add shrimp and and bell pepper and cook for 2 minutes, turning once.
  • 4 in a separate skillet add cream, stir in tomato paste, curry powder, chili pepper and heat to a light boil.
  • 5 add shrimp, bell pepper and cook sauce for 2 minutes.
  • 6 drain pasta (do not rinse) and add it to the skillet containing the shrimp sauce.
  • 7 cook for 1 minute over medium heat, stirring lightly to mix.
  • 8 salt to taste.
  • 9 arrange this spaghetti recipe on a platter and serve with parmesan cheese and french bread.

Shrimp Kabobs W/lime Butter Sauce & Cilantro Couscous

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 24 large shrimp, peeled and deveined, leaving tails intact if desired
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, snipped
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest, finely shredded
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika or 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • 1/4 fresh pineapple, cored and cut into 1/2-inch thick wedges
  • fresh lime wedge
  • 1/2 cup green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, snipped
  • 3/4 cup couscous

Recipe

  • 1 shrimp kabobs: rinse shrimp; pat dry.
  • 2 for sauce: in a small bowl, stir together melted butter, cilantro, green onion, lime peel and lime juice, paprika and garlic salt. set aside.
  • 3 on four 8- to 10-inch metal skewers, thread shrimp, leaving a 1/4-inch space between pieces. brush with some of the sauce. transfer kabobs to a baking sheet or tray.
  • 4 with nonstick cooking spray, lightly coat unheated grill rack. for a charcoal grill, grill shrimp kabobs on the greased rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals for 6 to 8 minutes or until shrimp are opaque, turning once and brushing with some of the remaining sauce halfway through grilling. (for a gas grill, preheat grill. reduce heat to medium. place shrimp kabobs on grill rack over heat. cover; grill as above.).
  • 5 thread pineapple wedges onto four 8 - 10 inch metal skewers. add pineapple skewers to the grill for the last 5 minutes of cooking, turning once and brushing with remaining sauce halfway through grilling time.
  • 6 remove shrimp and pineapple skewers from grill. serve over cilantro-scented couscous. serve with fresh lime wedges.
  • 7 cilantro couscous: in a medium saucepan, cook green onions in hot oil over medium heat until tender. stir in paprika; cook and stir for 30 seconds. carefully add chicken broth and fresh cilantro. bring mixture to boiling; stir in couscous. remove from heat. cover; let stand for 5 minutes. fluff with a fork before serving.

Shrimp Kabobs, Moorish Style

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3 lbs large shrimp, peeled & deveined, with their tails left on
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 lemon, juice of
  • 3 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes, not cayenne
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 3 bay leaves, crumbled
  • 3 tablespoons minced parsley
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry wine or 1/2 cup sherry wine
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Recipe

  • 1 mix all ingredients except shrimp into a food processor or blender and process until mixed well.
  • 2 combine with the shrimp, and stir to coat well.
  • 3 cover and marinate in the refrigerator for several hours, or better, overnight.
  • 4 thread shrimp onto small skewers.
  • 5 broil (or better still, grill over coals) until light brown but still juicy. about 2-3 minutes.
  • 6 baste with marinade.

Shrimp Killgary Casserole

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons cilantro leaves
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 3/4 cup miracle whip
  • 1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese or 1 cup shredded colby cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 (4 ounce) cans baby shrimp, drained

Recipe

  • 1 in large bowl, beat egg sour cream, pepper, salt, minced onion and cilantro.
  • 2 add rice, miracle whip, cheese and olive oil.
  • 3 preheat oven to 375 °f.
  • 4 fold in shrimp.
  • 5 turn into a 1 1/2 quart casserole.
  • 6 cover and bake for 35 minutes. let it set about 5 minutes before uncovering to serve.
  • 7 note: you may substitute mayonnaise for the miracle whip. if you do, eliminate the olive oil in the recipe.
  • 8 if you use 3 cups rice add 1/3 more miracle whip and use a larger casserole.
  • 9 note: you may add 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper if you want a "kick".

  • 1 whole onion
  • 5 -6 stalks green onions
  • 1 medium coconut, grated (optional)

  • 1 boil water and then add shrimp until pink in color.
  • 2 drain and clean shrimp.

  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes with basil oregano and garlic
  • 1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
  • 1 cup rice

  • 9 cook until all the liquid is absorbed and rice grains separate.
  • 10 garnish with chopped scallions.
  • 11 serve with sekuwas and bhutuwas.

Shrimp In Prosecco Cream Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 onions
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 lb shrimp
  • 3 tablespoons cognac
  • 1 cup prosecco
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream

  • 1 sautée the onions with the butter until golden. add the shrimp and cook for 6 minutes. add the cognac, salt and pepper.
  • 2 add the prosecco and cook for 5 minutes.

  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes (and peeled)

  • 3 celery ribs, chopped

  • 1 (13 3/4 ounce) can artichoke hearts, quartered (rinsed and well drained)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion (minced)
  • 1 bell pepper (minced)
  • 10 mixed mushrooms (fresh, minced)
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can small beans, drained
  • 8 ounces shrimp (uncooked, shelled, deveined, minced)
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme (minced, or 1 tsp dried thyme)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1 place quinoa (rinsed and drained) and 2 3/4 water in saucepan.
  • 2 bring to a boil; then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until tender and translucent. set aside.

Shrimp In Spicy Tomato Sauce (gambas Paco Alcalde)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped onions
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon sweet paprika, preferably spanish smoked
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup dry wine
  • 1/4 cup fish stock or 1/4 cup clam juice
  • 1/2 dried red chili pepper, seeded (spanish guindilla or guajillo)

Shrimp Kebabs On Wild Rice Pilaf

  • 1/4 cup millet rice
  • cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped carrot
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup wild rice
  • 1/2 cup brown rice
  • 2 1/4 cups chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste
  • 2 minced cloved garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried coriander
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 16 medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large onion, cut into 16 chunks
  • 16 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 large red bell pepper, cut into twelve 2 inch cubes
  • 1 large yellow bell pepper, cut into twelve 2 inch cubes

Recipe

  • 1 put just the millet rice in a medium frying pan and saute about 2 minutes over medium, stirring constantly, until toasted.
  • 2 preheat a medium saucepan for 1 minute on medium, and spray 3 times with cooking spray.
  • 3 add onion, carrot, celery, and chopped bell pepper.
  • 4 saute 3 minutes or until vegetables are limp.
  • 5 add the rice, wild rice, and brown rice.
  • 6 add chicken stock and soy sauce, stir and bring to a boil over high.
  • 7 cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer about 45 minutes.
  • 8 meanwhile, combine coconut milk, chile paset, garlic, coriander, and lime zest in a mixing bowl and whisk well.
  • 9 add the shrimp, mushrooms, onion, tomatoes, peppers, and mushrooms, tossing to coat.
  • 10 cover and marinate for 30 minutes in refrigerator.
  • 11 preheat grill or broiler.
  • 12 on each 8 small skewers (if using wooden ones, soak in warm water 10 minutes before threading to avoid charring), thread 2 pieces shrimp, 2 onion chunks, 2 tomatoes, 2 mushrooms, and 3 bell pepper cubes, alternating ingredients so that bell peppers are at both ends.
  • 13 grill or broil 4 minutes, turn and broil another 4-6 minutes or until shrimp are cooked and vegetables slightly charred.
  • 14 fluff the rice and divide it among 4 plates, place 2 skewers on top of each.

Shrimp Laksa

  • 1 3/4 cups milk, coconut, canned
  • 1/4 cup cream, coconut, canned
  • 1 cup vegetable stock
  • 1/4 cup vermicelli rice noodles
  • 1 pepper, sweet red, cut into thin strips
  • 1 cup bamboo shoot, sliced, canned, drained and rinsed
  • 1/16 cup ginger (2 inches)
  • 4 scallions, coarsley chopped
  • 2 tablespoons curry paste, red
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon golden brown sugar
  • 6 sprigs basil, use thai if you can find it...much stronger flavor
  • 16 shrimp, jumbo, unshelled, cooked

Recipe

  • 1 mix the milk, cream and stock together in a pot and bring slowly to a rapid boil.
  • 2 lower heat and add the remaining ingredients, except for the shrimp and simmer gently for 5 minutes.
  • 3 next add the shrimp and simmer until heated through about 4 - 5 minutes.
  • 4 serve in warmed bowls and enjoy.

Shrimp L'orange

Ingredients

  • 10 lbs medium shrimp or 10 lbs large shrimp, deheaded
  • 1 lb butter
  • 1/2 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 3 large oranges, sliced
  • 3 -4 lemons, sliced
  • black pepper
  • red pepper

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in a large roaster.
  • 2 add shrimp, be sure to leave the shells on.
  • 3 pour worchestershire sauce over shrimp and add pepper.
  • 4 place oranges and lemons over the shrimp.
  • 5 mix well.
  • 6 place in oven and stir every 10 minutes until done.
  • 7 serve with french bread to dip into the liquid.

Nasi Goreng (micronesian Rice)

  • 1 lb lamb loin, diced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cups rice, cooked, cold

Recipe

  • 1 boil rice ahead of time, and cool.
  • 2 brown lamb and onion. add condiments.
  • 3 combine everything and top with celery leaves and/or shrimp on top.
  • 4 top each serving with a fried egg (optional).

Low-fat Gumbo

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 tablespoon extra spicy seasoning mix, i ended up adding lots more
  • 1 vidalia onion
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (any color)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 14 ounces chicken broth
  • 28 ounces stewed tomatoes
  • 1 lb shrimp, and or 1 lb chicken
  • pepper
  • salt
  • garlic powder
  • 1 cup okra (optional)
  • 1/2 cup corn (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (more or less)

Recipe

  • 1 heat broth and mix hot spices, celery, bell pepper, and garlic till softened.
  • 2 add stewed tomatoes, okra, salt and pepper, and hot sauce - i added more extra spicy mix.
  • 3 let simmer at least 20 minutes.
  • 4 add shrimp onions, corn, and a little garlic powder.
  • 5 can be served over rice.

Shrimp In Roasted Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup whole garlic clove (from 2 bulbs)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup packed flat leaf parsley
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 2 lbs jumbo shrimp, in shells peeled and deveined, leaving tails in tact (10 to 12 per pound)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • cooked rice

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400 degrees f with rack in middle.
  • 2 put garlic cloves on a small baking sheet and roast in oven, stirring occasionally, until golden in some spots, 20-25 minutes.
  • 3 remove from oven and increase temperature to 450 degrees f.
  • 4 puree garlic, cream, parsley, lime juice, water 6 tbsp oil, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper in a blender until very smooth.
  • 5 pat shrimp dry, then toss with remaining 2 tbsp oil, 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper.
  • 6 arrange shrimp in 1 layer in a large shallow baking pan and roast until just cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  • 7 meanwhile, heat sauce in a 12 inch heavy skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sauce is just heated through (do not boil), about 3 minutes.
  • 8 add hot shrimp with any juices to skillet and cook, stirring until shrimp and sauce are hot, about 2 minutes.
  • 9 transfer to serving bowl.
  • 10 serve with cooked hot rice.

  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 3/4 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained

Recipe

  • 1 melt margarine in 3-qt saucepan.
  • 2 add rice, onion and green pepper.
  • 3 cook 2-3 minutes.
  • 4 add broth, salt, black pepper and pepper sauce; bring to a boil.
  • 5 cover and simmer 15 minutes.
  • 6 add shrimp, mushrooms and parsley.

  • 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 -2 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 4 tablespoons coconut milk (can substitute light cream)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick, halved
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or 1 tablespoon ghee

Recipe

  • 1 (drain shrimp thoroughly if they have been previously frozen.).
  • 2 mix yoghurt, paprika, garam masala, tomato puree, coconut milk, chilli powder and water in a large bowl.
  • 3 add salt to taste, and set aside.
  • 4 heat oil and add garlic, ginger, cinnamon and cardamoms, saute on low heat.
  • 5 pour in the spice mixture and bring to a boil while stirring intermittently.
  • 6 add the shrimp and cook till pink and firm, stirring constantly and until the sauce starts to thicken.

Grits With Tomatoes And Shrimp

  • 4 bay leaves

  • 1 lb shrimp, shells removed

Recipe

  • 1 grits: in a saucepan bring to boil the water, milk, butter and salt; add grits and reduce heat to a simmer; cook, stirring frequently, 15-20 minutes or until it is smooth, thick and falls easily from a spoon.
  • 2 add cream and cheese, stir to combine, cover tightly and set aside if need be.
  • 3 tomatoes: meanwhile saute onions and garlic in butter until translucent, 2-3 minutes; add wine and cook until pan is dry, 2-3 minutes; add bay leaves, tomatoes and juice, and cayenne; reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, until tomatoes have broken down and mixture is slightly thickened.

  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 2 cups raw rice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup onion tops, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 (14 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1/2 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onions
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup celery, finely chopped

Recipe

  • 1 make a roux with flour and oil. cook until about the color of peanut butter.
  • 2 add onions, celery, bell pepper and garlic.
  • 3 cook slowly until transparent, stirring often.
  • 4 add stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce and let cook until oil rises to the top.
  • 5 stir in raw rice and raw shrimp; add 3 cups of water.
  • 6 cook covered over very low heat until rice is tender about 20 or 30 minutes. add more oil or water if mixture appears to be too dry.

Shrimp In Zippy Tomato Sauce

  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1 small red bell pepper, seeded & chopped
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 (14 ounce) can plum tomatoes, chopped with their juice
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 lbs shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 2 -3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1 piece dried chili, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 in a heavy saucepan, heat half of the oil. add the onion, and cook over low heat until soft.
  • 2 stir in the celery and chopped bell pepper, and cook for 5 minutes more.
  • 3 raise the heat to medium high, and add the red wine vinegar and tomatoes. season with salt and pepper. bring to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • 4 lower the heat, cover the pan and simmer until the veggies are soft, about 30 minutes.
  • 5 puree the sauce through a food mill or a food processor. push pureed sauce through a sieve with a spatula. set aside.
  • 6 heat the remaining oil in a clean heavy saucepan. stir in the garlic, parsley and chili, if using. cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until the garlic is golden. do not let it brown.
  • 7 add the tomato sauce and bring to a boil. taste for seasoning.
  • 8 stir in the shrimp. bring the sauce back to a boil.
  • 9 reduce heat slightly and simmer until the shrimp are pink and firm, 4-6 minutes, depending on their size.
  • 10 remove from the heat and serve.

Shrimp Linguine With Basil-garlic Butter

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lb shrimp, large, peeled and deveined
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons basil, fresh, chopped

  • 1 lb linguine (preferably fresh)
  • grated asiago cheese (as desired)

Recipe

  • 1 boil water for the linguine, adding 1 tbsp of the olive oil and a pinch of salt to the water. cook the linguine for 7-8 minutes (al dente), stirring every minute. while the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet with remaining olive oil.
  • 2 when th e oil is hot, add the shrimp to the skillet, sauteeing until the shrimp turns pink, about 3-4 minutes.
  • 3 add the garlic and the basil and cook an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • 4 add the butter, and toss in the pasta, making sure to coat the pasta with the sauce. remove from heat.
  • 5 serve immediately and garnish with the asiago cheese as desired!

Shrimp Linguine W/a Pesto Cream Sauce

  • 1 lb linguine
  • 1/4 cup kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and de-veined
  • 2 tablespoons emeril's essence bayou seasoning, divided, recipe follows
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, divided
  • 1 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup pesto sauce
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 set a large 1-gallon stock pot of water to a boil and add the kosher salt. place the linguine in the pot and stir the pot until the water returns to a boil. cook the pasta until tender, but with a bit of resistance (al dente), about 12 minutes.
  • 2 while the pasta cooks, prepare the sauce. set a 12-inch saute pan over medium-high heat. add the butter and olive oil to the pan.
  • 3 once the butter has melted, season the shrimp with 1 tablespoon of the essence and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt and add the shrimp to the pan. sear the shrimp until pink, about 1 minute, then turn over and cook for another minute.
  • 4 remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  • 5 add the onions and saute until softened and lightly caramelized, about 4 to 5 minutes. add the garlic to the pan and saute until fragrant, about 30 seconds. add the cream, pesto, remaining tablespoon of essence, remaining teaspoon of the salt to the pan and bring to a boil.
  • 6 cook the sauce until the cream is reduced by half, about 2 minutes. return the shrimp, linguine and the reserved cooking water to the pan and cook, tossing to incorporate for 3 to 5 minutes. remove pan from the heat and add the parsley and parmesan cheese and toss to blend.

Light & Easy Pasta

  • 1 (8 ounce) box garlic and olive oil pasta roni
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped zucchini

Nasi Goreng

  • 3/4 pint basmati rice
  • 1 1/2 pints boiling water
  • salt
  • 3 onions, chopped small
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 4 dried chilies, chopped (roughly one per person)
  • 3 -4 chicken breasts, diced
  • 1/2 tablespoon coriander seed
  • prawns or shrimp (according to how much you like them)
  • butter or olive oil or other flavoured oil
  • 2 eggs, omelette (optional)
  • sliced cucumber (optional)
  • tomato (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 heat 2 tablespoons of oil, or mixed butter and oil in a saucepan, add the rice and stir until all grains are coated and transparent.
  • 2 crumble the stock cube into the water, stir to dissolve it and add to the rice.
  • 3 bring to a vigorous boil.
  • 4 stir, cover with a lid; turn off the heat and leave to stand for 12 minutes, then drain, loosen with a fork and leave to cool.
  • 5 fry the onion, garlic and chillies until onions are softened and transparent, put aside.
  • 6 using a wok (ideally), heat a generous quantity of oil until it’s just beginning to smoke, swirl around the wok so the sides are coated.
  • 7 add coriander, meat and salt, fry for about five minutes turning regularly.
  • 8 add the onion mixture and mix well together over the heat until all are cooked.
  • 9 reduce the heat, add the rice and fry, turning continually for about five minutes, then add the prawns and allow to heat through.
  • 10 make an omelette and break it into the mixture before serving.
  • 11 serve with a side dish of tomatoes and cucumber.
  • 12 soy sauce adds to the flavour when served.

  • 2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons grey poupon or 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup whiskey

Recipe

  • 1 dredge shrimp lightly in flour.
  • 2 mix cream and mustard together.
  • 3 melt butter in saute pan over medium heat and saute shrimp lightly on both sides until they redden.
  • 4 pour in whiskey and ignite. when flames subside, add cream-mustard mixture to pan and stir until blended.
  • 5 serve in individual au gratin dishes.
  • 6 this recipe should serve four, but don't be surprised if your guests implore you for a second helping!

Shrimp Linguine

Ingredients

  • 1 lb linguine, uncooked
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoons wine
  • 2 teaspoons parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined

Recipe

  • 1 bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  • 2 add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  • 3 in a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add wine, cheese, garlic, parsley and salt and pepper to taste.
  • 4 simmer over low heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • 5 increase heat to medium high and add shrimp to skillet; cook for about 3 to 4 minutes or until shrimp begins to turn pink. do not overcook.
  • 6 divide pasta into portions and spoon sauce on top.
  • 7 garnish with parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.

Nasi Goreng

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup green onion, finely diced
  • 4 tablespoons grated carrots
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 cup mushroom, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons catsup
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons crushed coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 2 teaspoons sambal oelek
  • 1 cup basmati rice (can be done a day ahead) or 1 cup jasmine rice, cooked and cooled (can be done a day ahead)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined or 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces

Recipe

  • 1 saute bacon, crumble and set aside.
  • 2 to reserved bacon fat, add red onion, celery, green onions, carrot, garlic and mushrooms- saute until tender.
  • 3 add soy sauce, fish sauce, catsup, brown sugar, coriander seeds, pepper, curry powder and sambal oelek- saute 1-2 minutes to let flavors develop.
  • 4 mix in cooled cooked rice- put pan aside and keep warm.
  • 5 in another pan saute shrimp in 1 tbl oil, salt and pepper to taste, mix into rice.
  • 6 in the same pan, add 1 tbl oil, add beaten eggs and cook to desired degree of doneness, turn out egg like a crepe, cut into thin strips and reserve.
  • 7 heat rice mixture through, mixing until sufficiently hot, put rice on plates, sprinkle with bacon bits, green onion, cilantro and egg strips.

Shrimp Macaroni Salad

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh is best)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 2 cups diced shrimp, fresh or canned (i used 100/200 frozen pre-cooked salad shrimp,whole)
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons green peppers, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh tomato, diced
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • pepper

Recipe

  • 1 mix together lemon juice and oil.
  • 2 combine with cooked macaroni.
  • 3 chill for several hours, stirring occasionally.

  • 1 large garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped lemon peel
  • 1 1/2 cups snow peas
  • 1/4 medium red pepper, cut into strips
  • 3/4 lb cleaned medium shrimp
  • 1 (10 ounce) can chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups minute rice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 1 tbps. fresh bail, chopped or 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons italian parsley, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil in large frying pan; stir-fry garlic and lemon peel 30 seconds. add vegetables and shrimp. stir-fry over medium heat until shrimp turns pink, about 3 minutes.
  • 2 meanwhile, add water to chicken broth to make 1 1/2 cups. add broth and bring to a boil. stir in rice and seasonings. cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
  • 3 microwave: combine garlic, lemon peel, vegetables, shrimp, and spices and oil in microwave safe dish. cover and microwave on high power for 5 minutes, stirring at half time. add remaining ingredients and microwave 5 minutes more. let stand 3 minutes.

Shrimp Mac-n-cheese

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/2 purple onion, diced
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons instant bouillon granules
  • 1/2 lb mushroom, sliced
  • 1 lb raw shrimp, quartered
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 12 ounces cheddar cheese
  • 12 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 10 ounces broccoli
  • 10 ounces cauliflower
  • breadcrumbs
  • olive oil

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°f
  • 2 spray large baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • 3 start large pot of water to boil for elbow macaroni. cook according to package directions. drain and pour into baking dish.
  • 4 steam broccoli and cauliflower for 8 minutes. drain and add to baking dish.
  • 5 saute onions and mushrooms in olive oil until tender, about 15 minutes. drain and add to baking dish.
  • 6 add shrimp to sauce pan and saute until just cooked through, about 5 minutes. add garlic at the very end for most robust flavor. add to baking dish.
  • 7 for cheese sauce, melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. add flour.
  • 8 cook flour until just browned. do not overcook.
  • 9 add water and stir with a whisk.
  • 10 add bouillon mix.
  • 11 add cream cheese and cheddar cheese in small amounts, stirring frequently. do not allow to boil.
  • 12 pour cheese sauce over ingredients in baking dish. stir until everything is well-coated.
  • 13 sprinkle top with bread crumbs.
  • 14 cover with foil and bake at 375 f for 25 minutes or until bubbly.

Shrimp In Tomato Cream Sauce

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 lbs plum tomatoes (roma)
  • 1 cup red wine (optional)
  • salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 lb shrimp, peeled and de-veined
  • 1 lb linguine

Recipe

  • 1 bring a pot of water to a boil and drop the tomatoes in one at a time. let them sit in water 30 seconds. this should let the skins peel right off.
  • 2 once all the tomatoes are skinned, de-seed them and chop up finely.
  • 3 now use the boiling water for the pasta. follow the box directions for the pasta.
  • 4 now in a large sauce pan, heat the olive oil over med-hi heat and saute the garlic for 15-20 seconds. just enough to release the flavor.
  • 5 then add the tomatoes and saute for 5 mins to make the tomatoes break down.
  • 6 now add the wine if you're going to use it. stir constantly until the wine evaporates and the tomatoes resemble mush.
  • 7 now add the cream and shrimp, turn the heat down to med and continue stirring until thickened and shrimp have cooked through - about 15-20 minutes.
  • 8 serve over pasta.

Shrimp Italiano Over Linguine

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs raw large shrimp, cleaned and sliced lengthwise along the vein
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 -3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup parsley
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sliced pimento-stuffed green olives
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • parmesan cheese, for sprinkling
  • 1/2 lb linguine

Recipe

  • 1 put oil and butter in a skillet heat on medium heat.
  • 2 while skillet is heating bring 4 quart sauce pan of water to a boil.
  • 3 while your waiting for water to boil add onion and garlic to skillet and sauté unit onion is almost transparent.
  • 4 add linguine to 4 qt sauce pan and cook approx 7-10 min, until desired tenderness.
  • 5 while your linguine is cooking add shrimp to skillet and cook 2-3 minutes, until shrimp is pink and cooked through out.
  • 6 once your shrimp is ready add parsley, walnuts, olives, oregano, basil, salt and pepper to the skillet.
  • 7 mix to combine skillet ingredients.
  • 8 remove from heat.
  • 9 when your linguine is done, drain it.
  • 10 place about a cup to a cup and a half of linguine on each plate and then spoon the skillet mixture over the to of the linguine.
  • 11 provide parmesan cheese for sprinkling.

  • 1 place flour and milk in a blender and blend until well mixed and smooth.
  • 2 saute onion in oil on medium heat until tender.
  • 3 add shrimp and cook, stirring until translucent, about 2 - 3 minutes.
  • 4 pour liquid in and cook over medium heat stirring until thickened, making sure the shrimp is done, but not overcooked (a total cooking time of 3 to 5 minutes is usually enough for shrimp depending on the size.

  • 7 note: cream sauces break or coagulate due to high heat, acids or salt. fat in a sauce helps prevent this, but if you use skim milk as i do, keep the sauce from boiling if possible and add the salt at the end.

  • 1 1. place frozen shrimp in a large bowl filled with cold water to thaw.
  • 2 2. in a medium sauce pan (not a skillet), heat oil over medium heat. add onion and ginger; cook until onion is softened, about 3 minutes, stirring frequently. add garlic, coriander, cayenne, and lemon zest. cook about 1 to 2 minutes, until fragrant, stirring frequently.
  • 3 3. add the tomatoes to the pan, breaking them up with your hands as you add them, removing the tough core (be careful, hold the tomatoes in the pan as you break them so they don't squirt all over you!). pour in any juices from the can.
  • 4 4. bring the tomato sauce to a boil; reduce the heat and simmer 10 minutes. season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger

  • 2 cups light coconut milk (or 1 14oz can)
  • 2 -3 potatoes, diced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 chili peppers, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 spring onion

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil in a large saucepan.
  • 2 brown onion and then and ginger and garlic.
  • 3 add curry paste, and mix well. it might be a bit globular, but don't worry - it will mix in nicely once you add the liquid next.
  • 4 add coconut milk and mix well. you can add about 1/3cup water if it is too thick.
  • 5 add carrot and potatoes and bring to a boil. leave the pot uncovered so that the water previously added will evaporate and you will get a nice thick gravy.
  • 6 when the carrots and potato are just about cooked, add shrimp, bell pepper, fish sauce, sugar, chili peppers and curry powder.
  • 7 simmer for 5 minutes until shrimp turn pink. do not overcook at this stage as shrimp will turn rubbery.
  • 8 top with chopped spring onions just before serving.
  • 9 (note: taste the curry and adjust seasonings as necessary at this time. depending on the brand of curry powder you use, you may need to adjust the amount of sugar. i have found some bitter notes in certain brands, and increasing the sugar adjusts that. you can also add some red pepper flakes if you need more heat, or even at more of the yellow curry paste at the last step).

  • 1 salt and pepper chicken and pat in seasonings.
  • 2 heat olive oil to med-high.
  • 3 dredge chicken in flour and add to heated oil.

  • 1 in a deep skillet, heat the olive oil and saute the chives for 2 minutes. add the mussels or shrimps, and cook for 1 minute.
  • 2 pour in the wine, and when it starts to boil, add the mustard, chili pepper flakes, half the parsley, and the water or stock. cook for about 3 minutes, then add the lemon juice, feta cheese, and the rest of the parsley. do not stir (cause of the cheese), but shake the pan to distribute the ingredients evenly.

Ginger-garlic Shrimp, China Royal

  • 3/4 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 cup cooking wine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 1 tsp water (combined to thicken sauce at the end)
  • fettuccine or linguine

Recipe

  • 1 put 1/2 cup of minced garlic into a mortar and pestal. drizzle some of the 1/4 cup of olive oil over the garlic and crush up the garlic in the oil. then stir in the rest of the oil and add a pinch of red pepper flakes. pour mixture over shrimp and toss well. refrigerate while you continue on.
  • 2 cut broccoli crown down to small flowerettes. chop onion into decent sized pieces. slice mushrooms (or open can and drain if you must).
  • 3 melt a stick of butter in a large saute pan over med-high heat. add 2 tbsp of minced garlic, onions, and mushrooms. add oregano. saute until onions wilt. add shrimp & garlic mixture and saute until shrimp turns pink. add wine and bring to a simmer. add cornstarch and water mixture to thicken the sauce. stir well. turn down heat to low and add broccoli. cover for 2 minutes. stir well.

Easy Spicy Garlic Shrimp

  • 2 melt the butter in a pan and fry the chopped onions until soft. then add the prawns and heat through.

  • 4 season to taste and pour into the ramekin (moulded baking) dishes. sprinkle the grated cheese on top and brown under a hot broiler.

  • 2 serrano chilies, stemmed

  • 1 tablespoon fresh tarragon leaves
  • 1 1/4 lbs medium shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 place the garlic in a mortar and pestle with a generous amount. grind to a paste. add 1 tbsp olive oil and blend together.
  • 2 preheat the broiler. cover a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place the tomatillos on top, stem side down. place under the broiler on the highest rack and broil 2-5 minutes, until charred on one side. turn over and broil the other side for 2-5 minutes until charred on the other side.
  • 3 remove tomatillos from the heat and transfer to a blender, including any juice that may have accumulated. add chilies, basil, mint, and tarragon and blend until smooth. season with salt to taste.
  • 4 season the shrimp with salt and pepper. heat the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat in a heavy saucepan and add the shrimp. cook on one side for 1 minute then use tongs to turn the shrimp over and cook on the other side for one minute. remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  • 5 add garlic paste to the hot pan and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant. add the tomatillo mixture, stir together, and lower the heat to medium-low. simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • 6 return the shrimp to the pan, bring to a simmer, and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce coats the shrimp and the shrimp is cooked through. taste, season with salt and pepper as necessary, and serve.

Recipe

  • 1 spread washed shrimp in a shallow baking dish.
  • 2 combine the rest of the ingredients in a sauce pan and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes.
  • 3 let cool slightly, then pour over shrimp, cover, and refrigerate several hours, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 bake at 300 degrees f for about 30 minutes, stirring shrimp occasionally.
  • 5 serve in shallow soup bowls with lots of french bread for dipping!
