Ingredients
- 2 lbs fresh shrimp, peeled and de-veined
- 1 chinese turnip, grated
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Recipe
- 1 mix eggs, flour, cornstarch, 1/2 cup water, and salt. boil soy sauce, 1 cup water, and sugar for 5 minutes. dip shrimp into batter and fry in deep fat until golden brown. drain on paper towels. add grated turnip to sauce. serve tempura on bed of lettuce leaves. place sauce in small bowls for dipping.
